Carol Latta

Carol Latta

Born and educated in Michigan, I began painting and photography at the age of twelve. Although I first majored in Art in college, I ultimately graduated with honors from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1970. I then worked as a Registered Nurse and raised my family before moving to Maine in 1997 where I was inspired to devote myself to both photography and painting.

As I am fortunate to spend most of my summer on our yawl, the "Carol Lyn", I photograph the magnificent Maine coast with its villages, islands, harbors, coves and classic sailing yachts from the deck of the boat. These inspirational photographs feed my passion to paint during the winter.

My objective is to share my privileged visual experiences and love of painting and photography with those who live in Maine and those who wish they did.

The Business End

The Business End

The Business End 25x29 Framed Photo. The city of Belfast has been going through a wonderful rebirth thanks, in part, to the Front Street Shipyard. This new business has the equipment and expertise to service some of the largest boats on the coast of Maine. These boats carry owners and crew
who enjoy the shopping, restaurants and entertainment of quaint Belfast.

Some of the most interesting places in Maine are boat yards. You can never anticipate what you might find there. In Belfast, Front Street Shipyard is no exception.

On a rainy April morning, I found this colorful dowager waiting for service to her propeller, the business end. Her hull shows many sea miles in the line of duty. I surmise she's anxious to return to the Maine waters.
