Meet our Staff
Marketing and representing local artists, becoming a resource for art education, and celebrating the visual arts in the Bucksport Bay community.
Kathryn James, Executive Director
Besides her deep faith and love of artwork, Kathryn brings the experience of a lifetime in the workplace to the Lighthouse Arts Center. Her artistic and scholarship accreditation includes Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the State University of New York, primarily through long distance learning, as well as several years of personal study with watercolorist Paul Elliott in Upstate New York. She is a skilled watercolor artist and has taught classes for many years. Her thirty years working in various positions for a large corporation has given her knowledge in time management, organizational skills, employee oversight and development, customer service handling, public relations and corporate planning. And while she was doing all that, she completed the Famous Artists Course as well as wrote and self-published a biography. She is excited to enter this new aspect of her lifetime and to share her love of Christ through the beauty of art.
Sadie Personeni, Gallery Director
Sadie is a recent graduate of the University of Maine where she received her Bachelor's degree in Art Education and Studio Art, as well as earned her Maine K-12 Visual Arts Education Certification. Sadie grew up in the small town of South Berwick, Maine, where she discovered a love for creating art and found inspiration from her family, the surrounding community, and nature. While attending the University of Maine, Sadie found a passion for teaching and community based arts that she hopes to bring to the Lighthouse Arts Center. She enjoys experimenting in a wide array of media, but especially loves all forms of printmaking, ceramics, and drawing. Sadie is thankful to be a part of the Lighthouse Arts Center team and looks forward to involving the community and beyond in many exciting events, classes, and exhibitions to come!
A WIDE variety of art to enjoy or purchase. Art supplies are available on a limited basis, and the Lighthouse offers classes in many art forms. Wonderful view of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, and Bucksport waterfront.

What a fantastic addition to the Town of Bucksport! Thank you for being here. :)
Saw it for the first time today. It's a gem; Bucksport is so lucky to have this resource in the community.
A place not to be missed rather you live in the area or traveling thru. The artwork is amazing and it fits all venues. The building is beautiful in itself and has a wonderful view of Fort Knox, Penobscot Narrows Bridge and the river, Verona Island, and Prospect.
Absolutely beautiful especially with its overlooking the river.. Nothing like it in this area. We needed it. Gives good feeling just walking through.
Worth the wait! I'm so glad it's finally here. This is going to be one of those landmark attractions in this part of Maine. Congratulations to Cathy James whose vision is making this possible for those of us who make art and want a beautiful place to showcase it.
